IMO Classes
The Carriage of dangerous goods and marine pollutants in sea-going ships is respectively regulated in the International Convention for the Safety of the Life at Sea (SOLAS) and the International Convention for the Prevention of pollution from Ships (MARPOL).
Relevant parts of both SOLAS and MARPOL have been worked out in great detail and are included in the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code, thus making this Code the legal instrument for maritime transport of dangerous goods and marine pollutants. As of 1st January 2004, the IMDG Code will become a mandatory requirement.
Classification of dangerous goods
For all modes of transport (sea, air, rail, road and inland waterways) the classification (grouping) of dangerous goods, by type of risk involved, has been drawn up by the UNITED NATIONS Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (UN).
Klasa 3 Ciecze Łatwopalne
Łatwopalna ciecz
Ciecz łatwopalna (klasa 3) oznacza ciecz o temperaturze zapłonu nie wyższej niż 60,5°C (141°F) lub jakikolwiek materiał w fazie ciekłej o temperaturze zapłonu nie wyższej niż 37,8°C (100°F), która jest celowo podgrzewana i oferowana do transportu lub transportu w temperaturze zapłonu lub powyżej tej temperatury w opakowaniu zbiorczym, z następującymi wyjątkami:
1. Każda ciecz odpowiadająca jednej z definicji określonych w 49CFR 173.115.
2. Każda mieszanina zawierająca jeden lub więcej składników o temperaturze zapłonu 60,5°C (141°F) lub wyższej, które stanowią co najmniej 99 % całkowitej objętości mieszaniny, jeżeli mieszanina nie jest oferowana do transportu lub transportu w temperaturze zapłonu lub powyżej tej temperatury.
3. Każda ciecz o temperaturze zapłonu powyżej 35°C (95°F), która nie podtrzymuje spalania zgodnie z ASTM 4206 lub procedurą określoną w dodatku H do niniejszej części.
4. Każda ciecz o temperaturze zapłonu powyżej 35°C (95°F) i temperaturze zapłonu powyżej 100°C (212°F) zgodnie z ISO 2592.
5. Każda ciecz o temperaturze zapłonu powyżej 35°C (95°F), która znajduje się w roztworze mieszalnym z wodą o zawartości wody większej niż 90 procent w masie.
