SeaRates Updates - Week 53, 2020

If you missed our previous update, you can read them here

This was our final update for 2020. Thank you for using our tools. We appreciate your valuable feedback and continue to work to improve our solutions to help your business.

Cargo Wizard

Cargo Wizard has become a model of applications for exporters and sellers by optimizing each shipping stage.

At the first stage, you can create a list of your most frequent products and work with them on a regular basis. Each product contains detailed information including weight, size, volume and more. You can also select the Incoterms and place of origin for shipping.

You can now also choose between container or truck as the mode of transport and whether the stuffing of the container should be manual or automatic. Pallets for your cargo can be added as well.

For the next stage, you can calculate the optimal cargo location in the vehicle, with the integrated Load Calculator

Goods’ characteristics are taken automatically, which means you can work with the finished base and don’t have to manually enter the parameters for every new shipment.

Regardless of how the buyer placed an order, you can determine the best loading plan and if necessary, receive step-by-step loading instructions. This can help eliminate overpayments for additional containers or vehicles.

For the final stage, the Cargo Wizard uses the API of Logistics Explorer. You can calculate the tentative freight cost for each customer’s destination, and check the cost with and without customs clearance. This calculation can be used to make an offer to a potential buyer on various Incoterms.

This sheet helps you calculate an export price in your own currency. Fill in the spreadsheet and calculate your selling prices based on the chosen Incoterm. You can also build estimates of your distributors' margins and determine the approximate export selling price of your products.

Ship Schedules

Our latest updates and functions of the tool now include:

  • fast autocomplete
  • quicker search
  • exact matches are collected from the top and displayed according to priority

  • filter by port, transit time, date of departure and arrival
  • preliminary calculation of the number of search results
  • grouping ship schedules through alternative ports below the main ports

Tracking System API

This week, we’ve made improvements to the way we work with numerous shipping lines, including Hyundai, Yang Ming, COSCO, Maersk, Hapag Lloyd, PIL.

We have also carried out some technical work related to COSCO. While the functions are stable, you may receive an incomplete response about events.

We are working to improve the services for this shipping line.

Logistics Explorer

We have added door to door and port to port transportation. This means you can define whether the shipment service provided is between ports or to and from another destination that requires trucking or railing services.

The shipment leg between the export country and the import country is called the main transit or main leg. If the forwarder responsible for arranging this leg is picking up the shipment at the factory, the shipment is called door to port.

Similarly, port to door covers the main transit from the foreign port to final delivery. In door to door, the forwarder is handling the entire shipment.

An upcoming feature will soon allow you to add individual rates, as well as create specific rates only available to customers who have been given the link.

Growth of the Digital Freight Alliance

DF Alliance members have access to a global freight forwarding network that allows them to expand opportunities for their business and meet freight partners from all over the world. The DF Alliance now has 1000 members.

Members of the DF Alliance continue to provide positive feedback about the services available on the platform.

We invite you to join our open group for communication on international transport activities, as well as our Telegram channel for shipping innovations and industry updates.
