From the 10th to the 12th of October, the Intermodal Europe Conference 2023 took place in Amsterdam. The city, which has always been one of the world's logistics hubs, was the venue for discussions on the most important and promising areas of intermodal transport and container shipping.

The SeaRates team had a chance to take such a significant opportunity to exchange ideas with the leaders of the global industry and meet you lively at this influential event.

Conference insights

More than a hundred global providers in the fields of logistics, international trade, and more crossed the threshold of the outstanding RAI in Amsterdam to engage with this year's conference theme, - "Innovations in Container Shipping: Supporting Sustainable Growth".

Going to the conference, each of us was filled with thoughts and questions about the presentations and experiences we would hear in a couple of hours. "Will we cope without standardization of logistics?"; "What will the future trends of cargo transportation include?"; "What new challenges of customs clearance will each of us face and how will we avoid them?"; "What is the future of trade and logistics in the world continents?". We were eager to get answers to all these questions and many more in the next 3 days.

Hence, global logistics and IT service providers gathered for the three-day event on October 10–12. The key focus of the Conference was to learn about industry trends from around the world and prepare to jointly address today's challenges to optimize container transportation and multimodal cargo delivery, as well as the supply chain in general.

At the Conference, we became part of the discussion of the most pressing issues in the freight transportation industry:

  • Cold Chain & Reefer
  • Sustainability
  • Container Manufacture
  • Customs & Markets
  • Interoperability & Collaboration
  • Tracking Technology

The agenda was full and comprehensive. The worldwide audience was eagerly catching every insight we heard to improve logistics and trade business for themselves or their country.

The reports were divided into two groups: Keynote Theater and Technology Theater.

  1. The first set of keynotes covered such topics as global logistics market overviews, productivity optimization and the latest methods to improve it, the intricacies of customs clearance for containerized and multimodal shipping, green initiatives in cargo transportation, and much more.
  2. Presentations from the Technology Theater segment provided technical insights. Some of them included the following highlights: standardization of logistics asset tracking, innovative navigation technology and its impact on sea freight shipping, the ability of IT solutions to reduce logistics costs, platform collaboration and its positive impact on global markets, powder coating of containers, the future of supply chain operations, and much more.
