The Netherlands and China Connected a New Railway Route Through Azerbaijan

Initially, the train from Holland will be sent twice a week, and in the future the frequency of its running will increase.

On November 5, the logistic operator Cabooter sent the first freight train from the terminal to Venlo (the Netherlands) via the Trans-Caspian corridor to China. The route of the train passes through Istanbul, the port of Baku, where its sea shoulder begins, and continues through the territory of Kazakhstan to China, writes “Railways of the World”.

Initially, the train from Venlo will be sent twice a week, and in the future the frequency of its run will increase. The existing terminal and storage facilities in Venlo will allow an increase in the number of appointments to Chinese consignees already in 2019. In the medium term, the further growth of their number in the new railway terminal in Venlo will help.

The opening of this route was made possible through the partnership of Mars Logistics Turkey with the Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) and the port of Baku. The visit of a delegation from Baku in early 2018 to the province of Limburg (the Netherlands), whose authorities made a great contribution to the organization of international trade relations, in particular with China, turned out to be useful.

The route Baku - Trans-Caspian corridor is gaining popularity, including in connection with the launch of traffic on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. The Cabooter Group of Companies acts as a consultant in the construction of two railway terminals in Azerbaijan, one of which is intermodal.

Recall that in October, China and Belgium began operating a new route for regular rail freight from Liège to the city of Zhengzhou. On the first train it will go once a week, in the future transportation will become more frequent.

The opportunity to route this new service has already appeared in the united digital platform and on all logistics sites of the digital agents netowork.
