Global Grain Geneva 2023: Conference Summary

Global Grain Geneva 2023 hosted a three-day event from November 7-9 in Geneva, Switzerland, attended by more than 900 professionals involved in grain trading. The conference provided a crucial platform for participants to explore expert insights and discover new trading opportunities in an evolving landscape.

The SeaRates team had the opportunity to attend the main events of the conference as well as behind-the-scenes events, where we received interesting insights and forecasts firsthand.


Conference insights

The main events of the conference were held at the InterContinental Geneva, which was able to accommodate hundreds of visitors for three days. Each day, registration started around 8 a.m., and the events lasted until the evening, as the agenda was very informative and productive.

Participants discussed and navigated the impact of extreme weather and other factors on conventional trade routes, gaining insight into strategies to address challenges and identify opportunities for the coming year. The volatility of the grain and logistics markets was one of the main topics of the conference.




Global Grain Geneva served as a central meeting point for the global grain supply chain, enabling professionals to engage with key voices, negotiate deals, and address contentious issues for informed decision-making. This event featured the following events:

  • Contracts and negotiations Attendees had the chance to explore and negotiate with global grain trading supply chain representatives. Various opportunities were provided specially for this purpose, including lounges, receptions, traders' pods, and more.
  • Traders brunch. The week concluded with participants finalizing deals and celebrating new connections made during the Global Grain traders brunch.
  • Networking lounge. A perfect place for negotiating needs, equipped with additional seating for meetings, provided a relaxed setting for connecting with both familiar and new industry peers.
  • Women in agritrade: The attendants of Global Grain Geneva 2023 shared the latest industry statistics, celebrating and connecting women in agriculture.
  • Cocktail Parties. Attendees relaxed and networked informally at the end of each day, reflecting on opportunities and building connections over cocktails before evening activities.




Additionally, closed meetings were held at the Grand Central restaurant. SeaRates attended the traders' lounge after the main events of the first day. It was hosted in a calm and relaxed atmosphere, and here we discovered a number of market trends from those who directly determine the market, prices, and needs of the global market.
