May 2026 Development Release: Empowering Business Users

During the past month, we’ve focused on strengthening SeaRates through consistent and carefully planned updates. Each improvement supports smoother workflows and long-term stability for logistics tools.

Before proceeding, you may want to revisit the updates published last month.

Vessel Tracking

Our team continues to improve Vessel Tracking across web access, web integration, and API connection.

In the web version, you can now save and delete search results by clicking the Follow button, assign tags to saved vessel cards, and filter them by tags. We’ve also added new filters by year of construction, flag, ATD, and ETA.

In addition, we improved vessel type definitions with new categories, including law enforcement vessels and special-purpose ships. The vessel database and detection logic have also been updated, especially for fishing ships and passenger ships.

For the API, we improved the performance of the vessels and schedules endpoints and added a new endpoint for retrieving a vessel’s current route.

Container Tracking

We continue to improve routing logic in the Container Tracking tool.

This month, we enhanced routing for rail transportation, helping users receive more accurate shipment movement information across multimodal routes.

Air Tracking

We have upgraded the Air Tracking API connection to support smoother real-time data synchronization across global airlines in one place.

This improvement helps users access more reliable air cargo tracking data and manage shipment visibility more efficiently.

Demurrage & Storage Calculator

We have added demurrage, detention, and storage tariffs for the ZIM shipping line, allowing users to estimate costs more accurately when planning and managing shipments.

Freight Index

We’ve improved the Freight Index algorithm for calculating historical data by individual lines.

This update supports more accurate benchmarking and market analysis, helping businesses make better-informed logistics decisions.

Carbon Emissions Calculator

The Carbon Emissions Calculator now supports emissions calculations for rail transport on LandRates.com, making it easier to evaluate the environmental impact of land logistics operations.

SeaRates AI

We have implemented several enhancements to SeaRates AI.

Our LLM has been integrated with the CO₂ Calculator, allowing users to calculate carbon emissions for all delivery methods directly in the AI Assistant.

In addition, we have improved integration with the Rate API to provide more accurate rate calculations for all types of shipments.

Distance & Time

We are glad to introduce a new sharing option in the Distance & Time tool.

You can now use the Copy link option for a route card and share unique access with your customers and partners.

For the Distance & Time API, we have also upgraded the logic of location determination to improve accuracy and usability.

Virtual Office

We continue to improve the Virtual Office experience for business users.

This month, we updated the VO Profile design by improving quick access to logistics apps and enhancing the notifications flow.

We have also added an unread counter to the Inbox, making communication management more convenient.

Booking System

We have implemented a range of updates to the Booking System and Booking API.

The Tracking tab now displays events based on received shipment data, along with data updates from the Tracking API when a container number is included in the booking.

For shippers, we have added the option to download invoices from the Payment tab.

Additionally, users can now add new events manually, and these events are automatically sorted based on the specified date.

Geocoding API

We are glad to present significant improvements to the Geocoding API.

We’ve updated port mapping and geodata processing logic, including adaptive port ranking by relevance based on distance and name similarity.

Port type identification has also been improved through checks of navigable waterways based on OSM data.

In addition, we have added support for fully and partially navigable rivers and channels to correctly identify river ports and dry ports.

AirRates updates

We are glad to announce new improvements to the Flight Schedules tool on AirRates.com.

This month, we added two airlines: Korean Air and Finnair.

You can now access timetables for available airlines through the API documentation, helping users explore global airline schedules more efficiently.

May was another step forward in building faster, simpler logistics with SeaRates.
