August 2023 Development Release: Empowering Business Users

The SeaRates team appreciates your great feedback and support. We release new features and enhancements every month, and this month is no exception. We present to you the results of our hard work. If you subscribe to our SeaRates news feed, we will notify you when a new release is ready.

Go ahead and check out the new features and capabilities.

Tracking System

We have improved the Tracking System tool to version 3.0 and implemented new features to easily manage the tracking of your containers by container, booking, or bill of lading number. Check out the detailed information about your shipping routes, transports, etc. on SeaRates.com.

The web version is enhanced with the convenient ability to upload Excel files for container tracking and downloading results. We have also added the display of container types.

We have made a great range of improvements to the Tracking System API, such as implementing standardization in accordance with DCSA. We added 2 new fields for simplified event identification: Event Type (SHIPMENT/TRANSPORT/EQUIPMENT) and Event Code (LOAD/DEPA/ARRI/etc.). Furthermore, in order to obtain even more detailed information on terminals, we have transferred the data of 17000+ terminals from BIC and SMDG to the SeaRates database.

Additionally, we have added the "size_type" field to describe the size and type of container and the Transport Type field in the Route API to facilitate the display of routes for multimodal shipments.

We have improved the routing logic in the Route API, including rail transport, for the updated Transport Type, Event Type, and Event Code fields. The logic for determining the type and size of containers and building routes has also been improved.

In accordance with the new features of the tool, we have updated the version of the History API.

Finally, we have made enhancements to the way we work with providers, including Maersk, Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), Yang Ming, Evergreen, COSCO, Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), T.S. Lines, Seaboard Marine, Ocean Network Express (ONE), Wan Hai, Pacific International Lines (PIL), Mariana Express Lines (MELL), SITC Container Lines, Sealand, W.E.C. (West European Container) Lines, DHL Global Forwarding, SM Line (SML), China United Lines, Hapag-Lloyd, Interasia Lines, Sinotrans Container Lines, Stolt Tank Containers (STC), Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), and CMA CGM.

Ship Schedules

We are pleased to announce that we have added support for Interasia Lines to the by Vessel tab.

We have also made improvements to the way we work with providers, including the PIL, CMA CGM, APL, ANL, CNC, Tanto, Sinokor by Points tab and the T.S. Line, PIL, SM Line, and OOCL by Vessel tab.

Logistics Explorer

For the Quick Request form, we provided automatic filling out of the phone number field based on data from your Profile.

Also, when creating a booking, we have added a mandatory field for specifying the weight of the cargo. From now on, you can view the weight value specified in the booking on the Booking Info tab.

Logistics Map

We have created an option to select some or all modes of transportation (sea, land, and air). However, if you do not select a mode of transportation, all of them will be selected by default.

Moreover, for requests with an unspecified type of transportation, we have added a route display on the interactive map.

Other updates

For a streamlined overview of your shipping requests, we have updated the Requests tab in your Virtual Office.

Finally, please have a look at the SeaRates Careers page to find your meaningful role within our team.

We hope that these updates will improve your experience using our services. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact us.
