Illichivsk Sea Commercial Port is one of the largest ports of Ukraine, the powerful enterprise of transport system of the country.

The strategy of the Port is to gain a leading position at the market in handling of general cargoes and increasing the volume of containers, bulk and liquid bulk cargoes .

Taking into account objective changes in the structure of foreign trade freight traffics, the port has developed and implemented an optimal investment policy as follows: modernizing of cargo handling equipment, developing port infrastructure, carrying out reconstruction of berths and cargo handling complexes, expanding the range of cargo types.

Specialized terminals on handling containers, steel products, fertilizers, ore, grains, liquefied gas, fuel and other types of cargoes, are provided for the clients of the Port. Regular ferry lines between the Port of Illichivsk and ports of Bulgaria, Georgia and Turkey are operated in the Port.

The international transport intermodal project to handle regular container-contrailer train VIKING, operating on the route Illichivsk - Kiev - Minsk - Vilnius - Klaipeda and back, has been carried out in the Port.

The Port also plans to launch speedy trains on other routes.

A wide net of maritime agencies and forwarding companies cooperating with the Port in servicing ships and shipowners functions close to the Port and in its territory.

Average depth in the roads is 13,5 m and it allows to handle any large-capacity vessels. This fact puts the Port of Illichivsk into more favourable position in comparison with other ports of the Black Sea.

The Port is open for navigation all the year round.

Twenty four-hours and safe ship steering of ships in any weather is provided with "Vessel Traffic Surveillance centre "Rascat" (VTS Centre "Rascat").
