Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port
The Sea Commercial Port of Kaliningrad is located in the southeast part of the Baltic sea in the mouth of Pregolya river.
The length of the sea canal and the waterways connecting the port with the sea is 43 kilometers. The geographical coordinates of the port are: 54 hailstones, 42 minutes of northern breadth; 20 hailstones, 32 minutes of east longitude.
The port is located at crossing of the basic intermodal transport corridors (I, IX) in the Special Economic Zone of Russian Federation.
Railway and automobile lines connect the berths of the port directly to all the network of transport ways of Russia and other countries, and shipping sea lines - with ports of Germany, Poland, Holland, Belgium, the Great Britain. The regular ferry line connects port of Kaliningrad with the ports of Kiel (Germany) and Saint-Petersburg (Russia).
There are 19 berths at the port, which are equipped with handling machinery.
- 15 cargo berths, 2 of them are for acceptance of RO-RO vessels ( berths 3, 19);
- 3 grain berths (berths 7, 8 (settling), 9 are owned by the Port Authority, they are rented by the elevator);
- a berth for settling on the vessels of the port fleet (berth 3а).
The total length of the berthing line at the port is 2 630,6 meters.

The full complex of services connected with transportation of cargoes from the Consignor to the Consignee and parking of the vessels at the port is rendered.
The basic services are the following:
- loading-unloading operations;
- storage of cargoes;
- forwarding of cargoes via railway and motor transport, including calculations for transportation of cargoes by railway directly with the administration of the railway;
- logistics;
- power supply for the alien organizations;
- telephone services and INTERNET-communication services.
We have a direct Agreement with the Russian Railways, JSC on forwarding of cargoes by rail, and also contracts on cooperation with the Lithuanian and Byelorussian Railway.
There are freight, agent and other companies working on the port's territory, assisting the port to ensure the continuity of the transport process and to create the maximum convenience for clients.
All services at the port are carried out on the basis of direct contracts applying flexible system of tariffs and an individual approach to the client.
Besides, clients and investors of the port are granted some tax and customs privileges in accordance with the Law of the Russian Federation "On the Special Economic Zone in the Kaliningrad region".
Kaliningrad sea commercial port is a universal port, which is able to handle all types of cargo except oil products:
- Ferrous and non-ferrous metals (pipes, cast-iron and other);
- Grain;
- Fertilizers liquid, in tare and in bulk;
- Mineral and construction materials;
- Cellulose and pulp;
- Machinery and cargoes on roll-trailers;
- Reefer cargoes (fish, meat, fruit and other);
- Dry cargoes and cargoes in bulk (coke, metal scrap, ferroalloys and other);
- Timber cargoes (saw-timber and wood pulp logs);
- Containers (including reefer ones);
- Other general cargoes in bags, boxes, packets, big-bags and other.
The total area of the port is 80 hectors.
All loading-unloading operations at the Sea Commercial Port of Kaliningrad are made on four terminals, which are specialized on various types of cargo.
The cargo Terminal No.1 is located on the right side of Volnaya harbor (berths 1, 2, 3, 15). It specializes on handling of reefer cargoes, timber and general cargoes of covered and open storage in bags, boxes, packets, big-bags. There are 2 freezing warehouses (refrigerators), the open warehouse areas for storage of the ferroalloys, covered warehouses for storage of saw-timber and plywood, 3 covered warehouses for cargoes in bags, a complex on manufacture of fodder additives for agricultural animals and capacities for completion of plywood up to the European standards, 45 thousand square meters of open protected storage areas are located on its territory.
The cargo Terminal No.2 is located on the left side of Volnaya harbor (berths 4, 5, 6, 19) It specializes on handling of cellulose, metals, containers and RO-RO cargoes. There are covered warehouses for storage of ferroalloys and cellulose, one of the buildings of the port elevator, mechanical workshops, the container terminal, a warehouse for completion are located on its territory.
The cargo Terminal No.3 is located on the right side of Industrial harbor (berths 10, 11, 12, 13, 14). It specializes on handling of coke, cast-iron, ore, scrap metals. There are 2 buildings of the port elevator and 49 thousand square meters of open storage areas for storage of bulk cargoes are located on its territory.
The cargo Terminal No.4 is located on the left quay of the Pregolya river (berths 16, 18) and specializes on handling of mineral fertilizers: liquid and in bulk. Their packing and slinging are also made there. The terminal is equipped with three tanks with capacity of 3 thousand cubic meters each and a covered warehouse for storage of 12 000-15 000 tons of mineral fertilizers.
Container terminal.
About 2200 containers per month are handled at Kaliningrad sea commercial port today. The speed of processing of containers is 200 units per shift (11 hours), that is 20 containers per hour in average.
Within the framework of the project of development of the container terminal the additional area of 45 thousand square meters is developed for container storage. The container terminal is equipped with modern handling equipment, including the 40-ton cargo crane, at the end of the year 2003 the new unique first in Russia 50-ton crane has been introduced into exploitation.
The joint venture "Terminal GMB Co. Ltd." (the main founders are the Sea Commercial Port of Kaliningrad and "GAS - OIL" company) is functioning on the territory of the port, which is dealing with handling of mineral fertilizers in bulk. The terminal can handle all kinds of mineral fertilizers in bulk, it has the equipment for packing of fertilizers.
There is a wide range of loading equipment at the Sea Commercial Port of Kaliningrad, intended for handling all kinds of cargoes with carrying capacity from 1,5 up to 50 tons, including:
- Fork auto-loaders which have an opportunity to work with various captures depending on the kind of cargo with carrying capacity from 1,5 up to 28 tons;
- Container loaders produced by “KALMAR” and “FANTUZZI” (carrying capacity from 41 up to 45 tons);
- Port truck-tractors and grab loaders with grabs for heavy and light materials (capacity of the grab is from 0,6 cubic meters up to 4 cubic meters), electro-loaders;
- Hydraulic self-propelled cranes with dipper shovels for timber, dry cargoes, scrap metal, with an electromagnet and a hook;
Portal cranes with carrying capacity from 5 up to 50 tons.
The greater part of the profit the Sea Commercial Port of Kaliningrad involves into modernization of machinery, because loading equipment is constantly updating and more powerful and maneuverable mechanisms are appearing in order to improve the quality of services provided by the enterprise.
There are 13 covered cargo warehouses on the port's territory, 2 of them are refrigerators.
There are 209 071 square meters of the open storage areas at the port at the moment covered with asphalt and ferroconcrete surfacing as well as covered with ferroconcrete panels, namely:
- cargo terminal 1 - 26 187 square meters with loading capacity of 4,0-6,0 tons per square meter;
- cargo terminal 2 - 14 5544 square meters with loading capacity of 4,0-8,0 tons per square meter;
- cargo terminal 3 - 43 340 square meters with loading capacity of 6,0 tons per square meter.
The refrigerator № 1 is made by the Finnish joint-stock company "KUURE Engineering", and is intended for storage of frozen meat and fish products at t ° =-18°-24 °. It is supplied with 2 freezing premises with areas of 332,7 square metres and 427,9 square metres. Storage of the frozen products is carried out with by means of packages on pallets with the maximum height of штабелирования 4,8 metres.
Realization of the products from the refrigerator is carried out from the railway ramp at the loading into reefer wagons, and from the automobile ramp at the loading into autorefrigerators by electroloaders with carrying capacity from 1,0 up to 2,5 tons.
The refrigerator № 2 can work in two modes:
- in the mode of a refrigerator warehouse with the temperature of storage 0° + 5°С
- in the mode of a refrigerator with temperature of storage -18°-24°С
The warehouse was constructed by "Suzatronik" Company (Austria) in 1979 at the berth № 15 as a refrigerator warehouse for storage of citrus fruit with t ° = 0 ° + 5°C. In the year 2000 two sections of the warehouse and the year 2002 the whole warehouse was reconstructed and converted into the refrigerator with t°= -18°-24°С.
As a cooler R404A coolant is used. For achievement of low temperatures the combined compress-condenser unit of "EMF GmbH", Germany, is used located in the machine container.
The warehouse with the general area of 4 464,5 square meters is divided into 4 sections of 1 055 square meters each. The height of the sections from the clean floor up to the ceiling is 8,0м. The warehouse is equipped with two cargo ramps and access railways.
On the territory of the Sea Commercial Port of Kaliningrad there is the factory on manufacture of protein and vitamin mineral additives and premixes "Rybflotprom Co. Ltd." which is a structural division of the Western agro-industrial association of the group of companies "Sodruzhestvo".

towage/convoy of vessels and/or floating means for performance of maneuvers in the cannel and at the ports, including convoy of incoming and outgoing vessels in the cannel or at the port;
bunking of the vessels with fresh water;
services of the floating crane;
services of a mooring team;
other services under applications of customers.
Company "PORTAUTO"
is a branch of the Sea Commercial Port of Kaliningrad. It offers services connected with transportation of any types of cargoes by motor vehicles around the Kaliningrad region as well as the territory of Russia and European countries. The personnel consists of 50 first rate professional drivers.
"Repair and construction company"
is a branch of the Sea Commercial Port of Kaliningrad. The qualifying structure of its employees (more then 100 people) covers practically all infrastructure of the port. "Repair and construction company" carries out the following kinds of constructing works:construction, asphalting and repair of cargo platforms, berths (including RO-RO), road coverings;
concrete and installation works, installation of water drains, lining of the cable;
major overhaul of railways, mechanical workshops, buildings and premises, roofs, engineering ways and communications (waterpipes, water drains, heating, electrosupply, ventilation);
repair and service railways and crane ways, manufacturing of ferro-concrete products.
