The port of Novorossiysk is situated in the top of Tsemess bay at 44°39'N 37°52'E. Being one of the few Russian ports at the Black Sea coast Novorossiysk handles the major Russian and transit cargo traffics.
There are several stevedoring companies operating in Novorossiysk port now. The largest one is JSC "Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port" formed during privatisation of Russian ports in 1992.The major dry cargo terminals of the NCSP are:
Western Dock, Central Dock, Eastern Dock
The JSC "NCSP" also incorporates Oil Termainl Sheskharis, Mobile Equipment Depot
Passenger Terminals in Novorossiysk and Anapa
The JSC "NCSP" operates the deepest sea berths in the region of CIS and Baltic states. The depth at dry cargo terminals amounts to 13,5 m and at oil terminal - 24 m.
The non-freezing bay, a system of jetties and breakwaters ensure navigation in port all year around. The traffic safety is provided for by Harbour Master office . The fully computerised Traffic Management System is used for all vessel movements within port, on the roads and on anchorage.
Outside of advanced berth infrastructure The Novorossiysk port has an outstanding rail and road connection to the main industrial and population centres of Russia, Transcaucasia and Middle Asia.
The JSC "NCSP" serves Russian sea trade with regions of Asia, Middle East, Africa, Mediterranean and South America. Relative proximity of Novorossiysk to the largest foreign markets makes shipments through our port most cost effective.
W E S T E R N D O C K
Western Dock - is the largest dry cargo terminal of JSC "NCSP".
The dock principally handles: metals, containers, paper & pulp, fertilisers, grain
C E N T R A L D O C K
The second largest dry cargo dock of the port. It operates the major terminal for handling imported raw sugar. Another prevailing cargo is steel and non-ferrous metals. The terminal includes the Cold Storage of 5000 tons capacity.
E A S T E R N D O C K
The largest dedicated facility for handling cement and scrap exports. The new facility dedicated for handling bulk fertilisers commenced operation at the Eastern Dock in January 2001.
O I L T E R M I N A L " S H E S K H A R I S "
The oil terminal "Sheskharis" - is the biggest in former USSR facility for shipment of crude oil and oil products. The terminal caters for about 60% of sea-borne oil export of Russia.
