Port of DalianThe Port of Dalton is situated at the south end of Liaodong Peninsula and is one of the coastal hub ports in China and also the largest multi-purpose port in Northeast China. The port of Dalton is composed of Daliangang, dalianwan, Xianglujiao, Nianyuwan, Ganjinzi, Heizuizi, Si'ergou and Dayaowan port areas. The port now has 68 productive berths, in which 38 are deep water berths for vessels of over 10,000 dwt. The annual throughout was 64.17 million tons in 1995. During the Eighth Five-Year Plan period, the first 4 berths of the first-phase in Dayaowan port of 30,000 dwt and 2 multi-use berths for vessels of 25,000 dwt. The designed annual throughout capacity of the new berths is 2.6 million tons. RemarksExports include crude oil, oil products, grains, timber and general cargoes. Import are minerals ores, wheat, chemical fertrizers, machinery and equipment. The port has a thriving passenger service, with 8 long and short-distance coastwise shipping lines. Dalian Port has kept trade contracts with more than 300 ports allocated in 160 countries and regions. Dalian Port owns 221 berths, among which 57 berths can accept 10 thousand dwt vessel call; and also, Dalian Port owns the biggest crude oil terminal, mineral terminal, grain terminal in China. The Dayaoway Terminal is one of the 4 key deep-water transshipment ports of China. As the container cargo volume increasing rapidly, it has developed into one of the core harbors of Dalian Port. Dalian Port owns 90% container cargo and 70% sea transported cargo market share in Northeast China, and the annual handling capacity has reached 100 million tons.
