Full container load (FCL) Standard (twenty or forty-foot) container that is stuffed (loaded) and un-stuffed (stripped) under the risk and account of the shipper or consignee. In general, a FCL container attracts lower freight rates than an equivalent weight of loose (break bulk) cargo.
Less-than container load (LCL) Cargo that is insufficient either in quantity or in weight to qualify for the freight rates applied to a standard shipping container.
